English is a language which is approximately spoken by 381 million people and so many are in pipeline to get it. so, before learning to it people have so many misconceptions about it, like:
1. English is more than a language.
Before learning English most of the people think that it cannot be learnt, it is something out of the world.
2. English can be learnt like social studies.
So many learners start learning English as a theoretical subject, which gives it a frightening form.
3. Scared of being ranted.
Learners think that if they start learning it, people will start to insult them for anything that goes wrong as like everybody is waiting for their mistakes only.
4. English should be like native speakers only.
Learners forget that the main aim of language is to create understanding not to be appealing.
5. Less is enough.
By being the part of present population, learners do not have patience and start thinking that they will be perfect in initial phase of learning only.
6. Only listening is important.
Some learners think that by just listening to great speakers they will also get it and they forget the golden rule: Practice, practice and practice.
7. Only speaking is important.
Learners should always keep it in mind that speaking and listening both should be going parallel.
8. It is late now.
It is said that the best time to start a thing is ‘’ NOW ‘’. Learners should not think that they have grown older to learn now.
9. It can be learnt by formal studies only.
There is no necessity of formal studies to learn it because if ‘’ELON MUSK ‘’ could learn rocket science informally then it is just a language, why can we not?
10. It is hard as rock.
Before learning it, we fit this thing in our minds that it is as hard as understanding life. But everything can be learnt by practice.
