It has become very common to see interview as one of the stages of the scrutiny process. Whether you are a student or a professional, it has become essential for everyone to go-through an interview process for getting into any good college or a company.
Colleges and companies find the interview as a very good way to filter cream from the candidates who have applied because it is the only way through, they can check the confidence and personality of an individual and select a person who they are looking for. So, if one wants to perform his best in the interview then there are some things where one should work?
1. Know the organization.
One of the most important things to do before you go for an interview in some organization is to know everything about the organization. You may be asked such question like, why do you want to work with the organization then you need to have a proper reply to the question. I suggest you following things to prepare such questions: -
• Visit the organization's official website.
• Know the vision, mission, and achievements of the organization.
• Talk with current employees of the organization.
• Relate company's goals with your career goals.
2. Prepare an Effective C.V./Resume.
Your C.V./Resume plays a big role in deciding how your interview is going to be and what questions will you be asked in the interview. You have the opportunity to make a good impression and increase the chances of getting selected.
Try to make an effective C.V. containing your needed personal and professional information that an interviewer should know about you.
Prepare yourself for the questions you may be asked from your C.V. Learn the meaning of every word that you have used in your C.V./Resume.
3. Prepare answers of commonly asked questions.
When you are appearing in any interview then you are going to be asked a variety of questions but there are some commonly asked questions in almost every interview that you must prepare for, like tell us about yourself, tell us about your hobbies, why do you want to work in this organization? What are your career goals? How can you be helpful for the organization? et cetera.
Think a satisfactory reply to these questions. Your reply to these questions may increase your chances of getting selected for the organization.
4. Be confident with your answers.
An interview is not conducted to check your knowledge, they have already checked that by your qualification and other written exams. In an interview the primary purpose of every organization is to check your confidence level and how creative are you in your work? They want to know how helpful you can be for them?
So, you should be confident with the answers that you are replying. You should not use words that show a lack of confidence in your answers like I am not sure, I think so, I heard somewhere et cetera.
Answer any question only, if you are fully confident with your answer. If you don't know anything then clearly deny rather than misguiding the interviewer. Always remember "No one is perfect."
5. Present your answers effectively.
Your replies to the questions are only going to decide whether you will get selected or not, so you should try to give an effective reply to the question that you will be asked.
You should make an effective reply by: -
• Relating the question with your past work and life experience.
• Using some facts to make your answers authentic.
• Taking the help of some projects of that company only.
6. Give mock-interview.
Giving mock interviews will help you in getting used to the environment and the questions in the interview room, So when you will be appearing in the interview then you will be completely prepared for most of the things that are going to happen with you the interview room.
Always analyse the mistakes that you did in your mock interviews and try to rectify them in the main interview.
"As much you practice that much confidence you will get."
7. Don't get into argument.
As you already know that the interviewer or the interview panel is only going to decide whether you will work in the organization or not. So, you must not leave any negative impression on them about you.
You may be asked some social or controversial questions by the interview panel. So, you must be knowing how should you form your answer that it would not get converted in any argument and would not leave any negative impression on them.
8. Wear a professional dress.
As you have a habit of wearing informal dresses in your daily routine so you may feel uncomfortable in formal dress while giving your interview. So, you should try to wear a formal dress in your daily routine before you appear in the main interview.
It will help you in getting used to that dressing sense and you would not feel uncomfortable while giving an interview.
9. Take all the necessary documents and certificates.
You may be asked to submit or show some of your documents and certificates there. So, you should bring your original documents and certificates and at least one photocopy of them.
If you are asked to submit them then you should put all of the documents in a folder and then submit the same where you are said to. It would also help you in making a good impression and showing your professionalism to them.
10. Have your own questions.
The interviewer may ask you to ask some questions to them if you have. So, you should also prepare some questions to ask to them if you are asked to do so. Questions can be like: -
• Could you share your experience with the organization?
• Where should I improve?
Most important thing you should bring with you in any interview is the confidence that you are the best candidate for the post they are looking and you will get selected. If they do not select you then do not think that you have lost the job but think that they have lost a good employee.
All the best.
