"Actions Speak louder than words" is true in this case. Body Language goes in both ways. Body Language can help you to read others feelings and others can read you and your feelings too, that is why it goes in both ways.

Body Language includes:
(1) Eye contact
(2) Body gestures and postures
(3) Various handshakes.

(1) Eye Contact

By maintaining eye contact, you can win others’ faith in you. You can present yourself in a wonderful manner. All may easily trust in you and in result, you can promote yourself but if you do not maintain eye contact, you give a feeling of having no confidence and at times, you can be considered a liar.
Example: -Motivational speakers, leaders, News reporter etc. always maintain eye - contact in order to show themselves confident and true at their point.

(2) Good and Real Body Postures

Postures and Gestures play very important role in non-verbal communication so they must be real, not stiff and clumsy. At the time of sitting, your back and neck should be straight but not too stiff otherwise you will look dull and unenergetic. At walking time, distance between both the feet should be 6 inches to 10 inches (as per your height). If you are giving any presentation or speech on stage then the gap between both the feet should be as per your height (If your height is six ft. then gap should be 6 inches).

(3) Various types of hand Shakes

Hand Shakes are of different types like firm handshake, dead-fish handshake, aggressive handshake etc.

Hand Shake’s Do's
• Ensure that the hold is positive.
• The palm should be clean and dry and keep the fingers in an open position and the thumb up.
• Keep good eye contact with the person whose hand you are shaking and release the hand immediately after introduction.
• You should be the one to initiate the handshake if he/she is your guest/host/or is requesting a leave-taking.

Hand Shake’s Don'ts
• Giving a chilly/sweaty handshake. At a party this can be avoided by holding the cool drink in the left hand.
• Ladies should avoid initiating a hand shake (it is considered inappropriate in some parts of the India).
• Hold someone as, you are to press the bones and act as, you are to show force.
• Shaking hands with an indifferent hand is not in good form.

Some other indispensable elements of Body Language

Body Language also Includes:

• How you position your body- Some simple body positions that tell us about what is happening are - Sitting, standing, sleeping, eating etc.
• Your closeness and the space between you and other people and how this changes - while you are talking to strangers or ladies, you must maintain a certain distance but If you are with your close friend, you might put your hands around your friend's shoulder while talking.
• Your facial expressions- Facial expressions change as per your mood and situations that you are in.
• How your eyes move and focus - when you are angry your eyes tend to open wide, when you are crying, they water, in fact you can easily tell a person's mood by just looking at his/her eyes.
• How you touch yourself and others - if you are sitting with your head lowered and with your hand on your forehead, it will show that you are tense. If you pat your younger brother's back for his achievement that will show appreciation. If you touch the feet of elders that will show that you are respecting them and seeking their blessings.
• How your body connects with other inanimate objects like pens, wrist watch, spectacles and clothing.

So, Follow all these fantastic learnings and enjoy having great and excellent non-verbal communication.
